About: Dr. Abhishek Goyal is a Pulmonologist trained in Pulmonary medicine from PGIMER Chandigarh. He is one of the very few doctors in India with  DM (Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine). After passing from PGIMER Chandigarh, he also acquired training in various aspects of pulmonary medicine from USA (sleep medicine), Belgium (Lung transplantation and PAH), Austria (Lung transplantation) and Switzerland (Sleep Medicine). He joined AIIMS Bhopal in June 2013 as assistant professor and    developed the department of Pulmonary Medicine at AIIMS Bhopal from scratch. He managed a 16-bed pulmonary general ward, 10 bedded respiratory ICU, 4 bedded sleep lab, Intervention Pulmonology and lung cancer program as a consultant for 11 years at AIIMS Bhopal. It was one of the busiest pulmonology department in central India. Dr. Goyal also started DM program (pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine) at AIIMS Bhopal and was mentor to >10 DM students. His research area of interest is Sleep Apnea. He established India’s largest sleep lab in AIIMS Bhopal, started India’s first PDCC course in Sleep medicine. Dr. Goyal has >80 Pubmed publications with more than 35 publications in Sleep medicine. He is one of the leading researchers in sleep medicine from India. Among the significant research achievements of Dr Goyal are Conducting world’s largest sleep epidemiological study and Designing of Sleep apnea screening questionnaire (SONA). Before Joining GEIMS as Professor and Head of respiratory Medicine, Dr Goyal was working in the capacity of Professor (Addl) and Head of department of pulmonary medicine at AIIMS Bhopal. His aim is to establish another state of the art Pulmonology and sleep medicine department in GEIMS.
