A visionary leader in Neonatology, Surgeon Rear Admiral, (Prof.) Girish Gupta – NM, VSM (Retd), DM (Neonatology), DCH, DNB ,DM, FNNF represents the convergence of clinical excellence, academic leadership, and healthcare innovation. With over 47 years of distinguished service across the Indian Navy and premier medical institutions, he has played a pivotal role in shaping modern neonatal care in India.

At the Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun, he leads initiatives spanning advanced clinical care, research, and AI-integrated medical practice. His work reflects a unique blend of science, strategy, and humane philosophy-driving impactful change in patient care, training, and healthcare systems.

• Pioneered the establishment of advanced neonatal care units and advanced neonatal transport across various institutions.
• Notable past roles include Head of the Department at AFMC Pune and SGPGIMS Lucknow, and Faculty in charge of Research at SGPGIMS.
• Authored nine books in Neonatology.
• Efficiently managed the Tsunami disaster in 2004 in the Andaman islands.
• An expert member of the Medical Council of India for the DM (Neonatology) syllabus, curriculum, and examination framework.
• As part of his social responsibilities, he has the unique distinction of training more than 20,000 personnel on Basic Life Support.
